Catechism & Faith Formation
Faith Formation, often referred to as Catechism, is the process by which families grow in their understanding and practice of the Catholic faith, with a focus on deepening their relationship with God, fostering a sense of community, and living out their faith in everyday life. It recognizes that the family is the Church — the first place where faith is nurtured and lived out. Faith Formation supports parents and guardians in their role as the primary educators of their children in matters of faith, while also providing resources, programs, and support for families to grow together in spirituality.
Who can enroll in Faith Formation/Catechism?
To enroll in Faith Formation, children must be entering or enrolled in grade one (1) up to grade six (6). To participate in Faith Formation, a child must have already been Baptized in the Roman Catholic Church or a Church in full communion with Rome. A copy of your child's baptism certificate will be collected by the Catechism Coordinator prior to the first session.
If your child has already entered grade one (1) but has not yet been baptized, please email the parish office at parish.office@qasmoncton.com to inquire about Baptism Preparation.
When does Faith Formation/Catechism take place?
Faith Formation takes places on Sunday's before or after mass, depending on the ages of the child. At least one parent/guardian must be in attendance at all time with the child. This includes active participation in the sessions.
